Landbeach, Christmas Tree Festival
Saturday December 2, 2023–Sunday December 3, 2023
Over forty Christmas Trees will throng the exquisite Heritage church of All Saints, Landbeach, near Cambridge, this weekend.
Scented, real pine; aromatic bay; techno-bright-light; heavy- metal ‘trees’: all will display wit and challenge on Christmas themes during this Advent Festival weekend [Dec 2-3] which brings together Fen-Edge communities in a new venture.
‘Watt the Dickens’ and ‘Pan-Tree’ contrast with serene ‘Love’s Pure Light’. ‘T(recycled) is one of several Eco-themed ‘trees’ which repurpose materials. ‘Gone To Seed’, which uses natural materials, hints at thoughts less-than-angelic… whilst the church’s own distinguished angel smiles on. Visitors are asked to vote for favourite trees, but also to feast on seasonal refreshments; and maybe join in hearty carol-singing at 6pm on Advent Sunday.
This church will stand as an increasingly valuable Heritage feature amidst the new growths in housing; its connections to Matthew Parker, whose reputation gave us the term ‘Nosy Parker’, endorse other historic links with Cambridge itself.
Equally, it’s the people of the church and community who need some uplift through what continue to be difficult times for many.
