Europe Day Celebration

Sunday May 15, 2022

A fête to celebrate Europe Day will be held in St. Giles’ Church and grounds on Castle Street in central Cambridge on the afternoon of Saturday 14th May, starting at 1.00 pm and finishing at 4.00 pm.

Activities will include music by local bands, arts & crafts activities and games for children organised by Mums4Ukraine, bring-and-buy food & drink and plant stalls, and a raffle. All proceeds will go to Cambridge4Ukraine to support the excellent work they do to help the people of Ukraine and Ukrainians here in the Cambridge area.

People are invited to bring along food & drink or plants for the stalls, or to donate a prize for the raffle, and to contact info@cambridgeforeurope.org.uk to let them know.

Europe Day is held annually on 9th May, and marks the anniversary of the presentation of the Schuman Declaration, an event which led to today’s European Union. Europe Day celebrates shared values of freedom, democracy, human rights, equality, human dignity and the rule of law, the same values that the people of Ukraine are now fighting to defend against the Russian invasion.
