Waterstones are welcoming in the New Year with plenty of events.
Waterstones Cambridge pleased to welcome the return of Mega Manga Monday. On Monday, 16 January from 5pmby popular demand, be charting Taiju’s plans to restart civilization in Dr. Stone. Come and browse the many series on offer. See games, figurines and other products based on popular characters. Write notes and draw your favourite characters on the message board. Have a chat about all things manga in the ground floor café. Free.
On Wednesday, 18 January from 6pm Waterstones Cambridge is hosting bestselling author Gill Hornby as shediscusses her novel Godmersham Park – a powerful and moving novel featuring Jane Austen’s closest friend and confidante. She will be inconversation with Tory Young, Associate Professor of English Literature at ARU. The event will take place on the events space on the third floor. Tickets are £8 for General Admission, £5 forWaterstones Loyalty Cardholders, and £12 for a Book and Ticket which includes a copy of Godmersham Park (RRP £9.99).
Saturday, 21 January from 4 pm step into the world of faerie in the first instalment of Holly Black’s magical romance series, as mortal Jude finds herself forced to make her way in a fantastical royal court in The Cruel Prince.
While the YA Book Club is coming to a close, a new Creative Writing Workshop will start on Tuesday, 24January from 6pm/workshop led by The Mays. universities. The anthology features poetry, shortstories, art and photography. Members of the editorial team will be leading a workshop on creative writing.Attendees are invited to bring any works in progress of creative writing to discuss with, and receive guidance on fromthe editorial team. Free.
Join Rhinnaon Lucy Cosslett on Wednesday, 25 January from 6pm Waterstones Cambridge as she discusses The Yearof the Cat – a beautifully written memoir that explores the enduring relationship between women writers, artists andtheir cats as it moves from winter to spring over the course of a locked-down year. She will be in conversation withnovelist and tutor in Creative Writing at the University of Cambridge Nick Bradley. Book signing to follow.The event will take place at Waterstones Cambridge, 22 Sidney Street, Cambridge, CB2 3HG. Tickets are £8 for General Admission, £5 forWaterstones Loyalty Card-holders, and £20 for a Book and Ticket which includes a copy of the book.
