Concert for Turkey
Friday February 24, 2023
Gulsun Onay performing at Stanley Library, Girton College, Cambridge at 6.30 pm.
Music by Haydn, Mozart, Chopin and Saygun
Gülsin Onay is one of the most talented musical artists to come from Turkey in modern times.
From an early age her musical destiny was apparent — as a six-year-old she gave her first public concert on Turkish radio. By the age of 16 she had graduated from the Paris Conservatoire, and began an international career which has seen her perform in the major musical centres of over 80 countries, both in recital and with leading orchestras and conductors, and in festivals around the world.
No stranger to Cambridge audiences, Gülsin Onay’s concert is to support children affected by the massive earthquakes which struck south-east Turkey and Syria on the morning of 6th February, which have caused over 40,000 deaths. Millions of children are in need of urgent humanitarian support.
