The event takes place on 25/08 (August Bank Holiday) from 2pm till around 6 pm. \nThe event will be led by Jezoo\, UK’s family entertainer of the 2022 award.  so there will be magic show and then a dog show(no need to register before event\, just being your dog on the day). Stalls from 1pm on Monday. \nThis will be the 24th Flower Festival held in Yelling church (done every other year) to raise funds to keep the doors of the church open! Approximately 20 ladies from the village spend the Friday and Saturday doing flower arrangements to depict their subject which this year is Careers and Children’s classical books. There will be arrangement entitled Three Little Pigs\, Paddington Bear\, Treasure Island\, Firefighter\, Marine biologist\, photographer to name just a few\, about 30 in total. \nOn the Sunday the event opens to the public and there is an outside service at 10am but the doors will be open to view the flowers from 10 am – 5pm on both the Sunday and Bank holiday Monday. DESCRIPTION:Have a go at scything and watch experts in action. \nScything is a traditional rural skill that was used to cut hay. The skill is kept alive by enthusiasts and scything is still used to cut hay in small or difficult locations where using a tractor isn’t possible. \nBack for a third year and expanded to include the revived Eastern Counties Scything Championships\, the Wandlebury Scything Festival is becoming a premier scythe event. \nFrom 10am-1pm there will be scything demonstrations and have-a-go sessions\, so you can try your hand at scything. \nThere will be Green Woodworking demonstrations from the Cambridge Bodgers\, making items from the wood that is a by-product from the Woodland Restoration Project. \nStay around for the afternoon to watch the scything championships and see how the experts do it. Last year’s winner cut a plot 5m x 5m in under two and a half minutes! The competitions will start around 2pm. \nThere will also be a return visit from the Grim Strimmer who will challenge a top scyther to a scything race. \nThis is a free event.
