SUMMARY:Scottish Country Dancing - Beginners Course
DESCRIPTION:Taking place at Turnstone Suite\, Cambridge Rugby Club \nFree 6-week beginners’ course\, taught by Saskia Frisby accompanied by Keith Smith on fiddle\, every Tuesday from 8 September to 20 October\, 7.30-9.30pm. \nScottish country dancing (SCD) is a wonderful way to make new friends and have fun whilst being active. It is traditional\, social dancing: you dance with a different partner each dance\, in sets with a number of other couples. No previous dance experience is required and no need for a Scottish connection! \nOver six weeks\, Saskia will take you through a structured programme\, teaching you the basic formations and steps\, developing your ability to enjoy an increasing number of Scottish dances. DESCRIPTION:Ian Rawlinson has a new solo exhibition in Cambridge. Abrasions is his 10th solo exhibition at the Edge Café\, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. He is showing work from two recent series which explore connections between different areas of his East Anglian past. \nOpen Mon – Fri 08.00 – 16.00/ Sat 09.00 -16.00 \nTo celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Edge Café on the Brookfields site\, Ian Rawlinson presents his 10th solo exhibition at the café. After spending the last 14 years working on imagery inspired by places and memories from his past in Cambridge\, and more recently North West Norfolk\, his work is now evolving in different and as yet\, unknown directions. \nRawlinson’s work has been widely exhibited in the UK and internationally\, and has been recognised with awards and residencies. DESCRIPTION:Richie Ros is a singer-songwriter from Ireland’s rugged west coast whose soulful voice and heartfelt storytelling have captivated audiences across Europe. Drawing inspiration from artists such as James Taylor\, Van Morrison and Don McLean\, while embracing the rich traditions of Irish folk music\, Richie brings a unique blend of original songs\, stories and audience favourites to every performance. \nIn 2019\, Richie released his debut album Odyssey\, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer David Odlum of The Frames and recorded at the renowned Black Box Studio in France. Since then\, he has toured extensively throughout Europe\, earning a reputation for warm\, engaging live performances. \nRichie will appear live at Cottenham Community Centre for an evening of music\, storytelling and songs from Ireland and beyond. \nSunday October 4th.
