SUMMARY:Cambridge Winter Beer Festival
DESCRIPTION:In 1974\, the very first CAMRA Beer Festival took place at the Cambridge Corn Exchange… and they famously ran out of beer on the very first day! This December\, the Cambridge Winter Festival returns — and this time\, they’re making sure the taps don’t run dry. \n90+ real ales\, ciders and perries\, craft beer\, and international beer. Food available. \nAs part of the Corn Exchange’s 150th anniversary celebrations\, the Cambridge Winter Beer Festival is not just about great beer\, food and festivities — it’s also about honouring the story of this remarkable venue. \nDesigned by Victorian architect Richard Reynolds Rowe and built in 1875 from a quarter of a million local bricks\, the Corn Exchange first opened its doors as a place for farmers to trade corn. Over the last century and a half\, it has been at the very heart of Cambridge life: hosting motor shows\, revolutionary suffragette meetings\, Tea for a Thousand in 1935\, the cleaning and repair of rifles during the Second World War\, and later welcoming some of the biggest names in entertainment to its stage. \nEntrance is paid on the door (weekday 12-3pm free | weekday 5-10:30pm and Saturday whole day £5). There are no advance tickets. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Free entry for CAMRA members to all sessions. \nFor further information\, click here
