SUMMARY:Chimera - Exhibition at The Edge
DESCRIPTION:Taking place at The Edge Cafe\,  351 Mill Road\, Cambridge CB1 3DF \nOpen Mon – Sat. 09.00 – 16.00 \nIan Rawlinson’s Chimera series is inspired by a black-and-white film clip of the last Thylacine in captivity. This film prompted Rawlinson to create images which deal with ideas of a vanished past: transformation and memory. \nThe new prints combine part of the now-extinct Thylacine with places in Cambridge from Rawlinson’s past\, primarily Arbury and King’s Hedges. These places have a nostalgic feeling and are reminders of a childhood spent in and around the newly created housing\, the nearby farmland and derelict army base. The idea that the Thylacine is gone reflects his feelings about childhood\, coupled with an intense longing to see the past once again\, this time from the vantage point of the present. \nFurther information www.ianrawlinson.com

SUMMARY:Brassed Off
DESCRIPTION:1984\, Grimley. At the height of the Miners’ Strike\, talented musician Gloria returns to her hometown under orders from her higher-ups. All the while\, the local brass band\, struggling for funds\, makes the decision to go out on a bang with one last hurrah on the competition circuit. As circumstances become increasingly bleak\, and music takes an increasingly central role in the lives of the band members\, will the band prevail against the odds to reach the grand final? \nBased on the classic 1996 film of the same name\, Brassed Off\, which will be performed with a live band\, is a moving portrait of life during the Thatcher years and testament to the fact that music really couldn’t matter more. \nThis production is suitable for ages 16 and over. \nEvening performances at 7.45 pm with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30 pm. \n£10.00 to £16.00. \nFor info go to The ADC Box Office \n
