SUMMARY:Wandlebury Scything Festival
DESCRIPTION:Have a go at scything and watch experts in action. \nScything is a traditional rural skill that was used to cut hay. The skill is kept alive by enthusiasts and scything is still used to cut hay in small or difficult locations where using a tractor isn’t possible. \nBack for a third year and expanded to include the revived Eastern Counties Scything Championships\, the Wandlebury Scything Festival is becoming a premier scythe event. \nFrom 10am-1pm there will be scything demonstrations and have-a-go sessions\, so you can try your hand at scything. \nThere will be Green Woodworking demonstrations from the Cambridge Bodgers\, making items from the wood that is a by-product from the Woodland Restoration Project. \nStay around for the afternoon to watch the scything championships and see how the experts do it. Last year’s winner cut a plot 5m x 5m in under two and a half minutes! The competitions will start around 2pm. \nThere will also be a return visit from the Grim Strimmer who will challenge a top scyther to a scything race. \nThis is a free event. You can book here\, or feel free to just turn up.  Donations welcome\, but please pay for your car parking on arrival. \nFor info go to https://cambridgeppf.or
