SUMMARY:The Sampson Orchestra - Fantasy and Idyll
DESCRIPTION:The Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge\, conducted by Darrell Davison\, performs wonderful works by four famous composers of the 20th-century English symphonic tradition. Bax’s “Tintagel” (1919) and Delius’s “Daybreak” (1887) are followed by Vaughan Williams’s renowned “The Lark Ascending” (1914)\, featuring young rising star solo violinist Mikhail Andreev. The second half of the concert comprises Elgar’s grand Symphony No.1 (1908). The local charity which will benefit from this concert is the Karen Morris Memorial Trust. \nThe Cambridge Orchestra was founded in 1987 by the late Charles Sampson in response to requests for a new symphony orchestra which could harness the very talented players and music teachers within the Eastern Counties to perform large-scale classical repertoire to the highest standards. \nPerformers – Darrell Davison – conductor/ Mikhail Andreev – violin \nwww.adcticketing.com ADC 01223 300085 – £20 | concessions: £16 | students: £10 | under-16s: £5 \nFor info go to https://www.westroad.org/whats-on/fantasy-and-idyll \n
