The Noisy People’s Improvising Orchestra Cambridge Premiere

Saturday July 16, 2022

£10.00 – £15.00

On Friday 15th July 2022, at St Paul’s Church, Cambridge, the Noisy Women Present The Noisy People’s Improvising Orchestra.

The Improvising Orchestra is a new innovation from The Noisy Women, celebrating connectivity, creativity, sound, art and movement. Over 60 visual artists, instrumentalists, singers, dancers and spoken word performers, from many UK locations, including London, Devon, Wales, Brighton and Cambridge, as well as from Greece, will be performing at the Cambridge event.

The first half of the event will feature smaller ensembles playing improvised music, whilst the second half will be a continuous relay of co-conducted spontaneous music, dance and art, in collaboration with Oblique Arts and Mixed Bag Theatre, Cambridge, who will also be taking part in the performance.

The idea for this venture germinated in conversations on Zoom during lockdown between improvising and folk musician Faradena Afifi, who has convened the players, and her music-loving friend from Cambridge, Dominic Mulvey. The orchestra will be performing in Dominic’s memory, to celebrate his rainbow way of being.

Doors open 7.15pm. Tickets are £15.00 on the door, £10.00 low waged, or concessions pay what you can.
