Summer With the Museums

Tuesday July 26, 2022Sunday July 31, 2022

From exploring the science of earthquakes, Treasure Island family days and creating glass animals, to Teddy Bears’ picnics, butterfly time travel and nature-themed art sessions – Summer with the Museums is back with a bang for the school holidays.

Organised by the University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) and including venues across the local county, the programme offers a huge selection of museum-based creative activities, events and trails, all inspired by the vast range of historic collections found across Cambridgeshire.

Whether it’s a family day out, something to do on a rainy day, or an experience with a difference, there are plenty of options to choose from – many of which are free. This year’s programme also includes a partnership with the national Our Place in Space festival with related activities on offer at the Polar Museum and the Whipple Museum of the History of Science.

Among the many sessions available, families will be able to meet some amazing automatons, try out some time machine junk-modelling, train to be a knight, or create a crown of flowers. Encompassing a broad range of collections including science, art, archaeology, geology and local history, the Summer with the Museums programme caters for all interests. There is also plenty available for younger children aged 5 and under.
