Saving sight during Coronavirus – live update from Zimbabwe – Unique online event
Tuesday February 23–7:00 pm–8:00 pm
CBM UK – overseas disability charity
7.00 – 8.00 pm Tuesday 23rd February
Join CBM and eye surgeon Dr Ute Dibb from Zimbabwe to hear about the impact of Coronavirus pandemic on work to prevent blindness at a live online event at 7pm on Tuesday 23rd February.
Zimbabwe has one of the highest rates of blindness in the world. The country faces a desperate shortage of trained eye health workers and equipment, meaning that many people are unable to access sight-saving treatment. CBM partners like Norton Eye Unit work tirelessly to prevent blindness and restore sight, but in the last year Coronavirus has made their work even more challenging.
At this unique online live event, Dr Ute Dibb from CBM partner Norton Eye Unit in Zimbabwe, and Godwin Kudzotsa from CBM Zimbabwe will join CBM UK’s Kirsty Smith to talk about the impact of Coronavirus in Zimbabwe. Hear first-hand about how the pandemic has affected efforts prevent blindness in the country and about a new CBM initiative to scale up services in the coming years. There will also be a chance for audience members to ask questions.
