LIMINAL – Exhibition of New Work by Ian Rawlinson

Monday September 2 at 8:00 am - Friday September 27 at 5:00 pm

Ian Rawlinson returns to his hometown of Cambridge with the fifth in a series of solo exhibitions inspired by place and memory.
LIMINAL explores uses disused and hidden places in the city connected to his past. Prints, drawings and collages depict fragments and memories of significant structures standing at the boundary between past and present. In this series of work Rawlinson uses adjusted photographs of buildings and features together with encroaching black forms, intrusions and words, suggesting ideas of redaction and transition.

The work is presented at the Edge Café, situated on the Brookfields Hospital site on Mill Road.

Born in Cambridge, Ian Rawlinson grew up in the city during the 1960s and 1970s. He studied art at Cambridge College of Art & Technology (now Anglia Ruskin University) and left Cambridge in 1982 to further his studies at Winchester School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Since 1985 he has lived and worked in London.

Preview  Tuesday 3 September – 5.00 to 8.00 pm.
