HOTBED is Menagerie Theatre Company’s annual festival of new writing and new work in association with and supported by Cambridge Junction.
An exciting weekend of discovery and sharing of new theatre, including world premieres, international guest performances, idea development, readings of new plays and workshops.
This year at the heart of the festival is the world premiere of Bliss by Fraser Grace, commissioned by The Platonov International Arts Festival in Russia! The epic story of 1920 Russia is a powerful and moving work of scale that explores what it is to love in times of immense hardship. Told with honesty and humour, this is a major new play from one of the UK’s finest and relevant playwrights (Breakfast with Mugabe, RSC. Frobisher’s Gold, Menagerie).
A packed weekend of work includes the brilliant new production of Boulder , Two Comrades, direct from Prague, plus new plays and works-in-progress from Menagerie Associates, including Lucy Crowe, Steve Waters and Lucy Sheerman. Plus exciting new Young Writers work, workshops and community performances including Cambridge’s social theatre company Acting Now.
Day Passes (for Saturday and Sunday) will get you into every performance, reading and workshop for just £20.00 (£16.00 for concessions).
