Mental Health Awareness Week – 18-24 May
At a time when many of us are experiencing heightened feelings and emotional challenges we look to some of the recordings that focus on kindness, health and wellbeing.
Richard Layard offers us his theory on happiness, that the best kind of society is surely one where the people are as happy as possible. How government and social policy should focus on creating conditions that make people as happy as possible, especially the least happy people in society.
Lucy Jones talks about her mental health experiences and how nature and gardening helped her work her way through, and she shares her research and discussions with mental health experts who have used nature in their recovery work.
Joanna Cannon, a novelist who originally trained in medicine, specialising in psychiatry joined us last year to talk about her new memoir about her experiences in the NHS Breaking and Mending. She talks of care and compassion, now more evident than ever before.
Marian Keyes from Ireland, known for her honesty and wonderful storytelling, talks candidly about her past addiction and what she’s doing now to cope in lockdown.
Stay safe, keep well and be kind to one another.
