Episode 29 – Enforcing Nature’s Rights
3 October 6 pm and 6 October 9 pm
On June 21st of this year, activist group Friends of the Cam issued a declaration – the Declaration of the Rights of the River Cam. Giving rivers, trees or whole forests rights similar to those humans have may sound bizarre – but after all, we give them to corporations. This month’s show explores Nature’s Rights, with Paul Powlesland, barrister and founder of Lawyers for Nature, Tony Booth of Friends of the Cam, and Jojo Mehta, whose group Stop Ecocide has just come up with an definition for a new international crime of Ecocide.
