Cambridge University Botanic Garden will open its gates late on Wednesday evenings throughout July for the Sounds Green series – relaxed, sociable, picnic concerts in the Garden. A rug and optional picnic are all that are required to enjoy an array of music beginning at 6.15pm and lasting an hour, with the Garden closing at 8pm.
This year’s line-up of music brings a mixture of traditional folk music from the award-winning Mentés Másként Ensemble; Celtic Gypsy Klezmer from the Dodo Street Band; Glenn Miller to Gershwin brass from London’s versatile Westcombe Brass quintet and Afro Brazilian Jazz, Samba and Bossa Nova from Afrosamba.
Admission is £5.50 gift aid/£5.00 (£4.95 gift aid/£4.50 concession), accompanied children under 16 are admitted free of charge. The Sounds Green series invites ‘pay as you like’ contributions towards the musicians’ performance fees.
